Our mission is to inspire young adults to be leaders, by engaging them in mentor-based programs to compete in FIRST robotics competitions. These programs help build skills in science, technology, engineering, artistry, and mathematics (STEAM) that inspire innovation. Overall, we strive to instill a sense of teamwork and professionalism in a healthy learning environment, as well as to help students develop interests for their future.
IMVERT was founded in 2011 by CTE instructor Mike Criner at Mount Vernon High School. It has been consistently growing to a current peak of about 20 students at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Our team is also led by a half-dozen mentors who are very experienced in many different areas. We are very active in our school and community, from holding competitions at the high school to giving a presentation on FIRST to a room full of PACCAR engineers. Every student who is involved in our program learns lots of real world skills, from Computer Aided Design to business management.
